Pilot Call-sign:
Layin_Scunion (Mostly go by Scunion)
Location:
Pennsylvania, US
Timezone:
Eastern
Team Speak:
Yes
Preferred Role:
Anything and everything but if someone was holding a gun to my head forcing me to fly for their amusement, I would fly an attacker.
Questions and Comments:
I applied for a membership last year and flew with you guys a couple of times and it seemed just what I was looking for. Life then got in the way and I simply did not have the time to fly. Now I do. My real name is Ryan. I'm 31. Spent some time in the army with the 82nd Airborne and was in the parachute infantry. Now I am a self-employed welder (no it is not millions of dollars and all the free time you desire....quite the opposite!)
I have had an interest in WW2 aviation since a child. I've read a few dozen pilot memoirs from Germans, Soviets, Brits, Americans and Japanese. Something I am looking to dive back into as it's been a year since the last book I've read which was "Red Star Against the Swastika". I am open to any recommendations!
I've been flight simming for ~5 years...Cliffs of Dover, DCS, and (scoff) that other game War something or other. In DCS I stuck to the F-86 a majority of the time. In BoS, I mostly fly VVS. I stick to the Pe-2 and La-5 but genuinely enjoy anything and everything. I'm savvy on every aircraft in game sans the Hs-129. The Spitfire has been a lovely bird to me and she's been my side bitch for quite some time. I have limited but noticeable time in the TAW server just not recently. I have spent time in Random Expert as well so I don't just take a 109 F-4 out in Wings of Liberty and cruise at 6km alt wanking to pictures of Hartmann. Marseilles was cooler anyways.
I have never been a part of a legitimate squadron. Most of my time was spent flying with guys who liked drinking and flying and we'd put together haphazard sorties here and there. But I'd like to venture down the flight sim rabbit hole a bit deeper. As much as I enjoy the guys I currently fly with and the casual sim time of alcohol fueled hilarity that I'm accustomed to, I am looking for some structure.
I hope to link up with you fellas soon and blow some shit up.
